For the construction, I utilized wood from an antique wine box. The thickness was ideal, and cutting through the soft wood was simple. The hardest aspect was obtaining wood that was level and free of cracks; I used a 3.5" hole saw for the arch in the entryway; everything else was cut with a hand saw and polished up with a belt sander.
